Chaka Khan

 Chaka Khan is an American singer-songwriter who has an estimated net value of $30,000. Chaka Khan is frequently referred to as the "Queen of Funk-Soul". Khan is a 10 time Grammy Award Winner whose career spans over 40 years. She was born into an artistic, bohemian family in Chicago, Illinois. She is the second oldest of five children born to Beatniks Charles Stevens (and Sandra Coleman). Khan was a big fan of rhythm and music from the age of. At the age of 11, she formed a girl group called The Crystalettes. Khan was a teenager and participated in numerous civil rights rallies. She became a part of the Black Panther Party in 1967 after becoming close to Fred Hampton, a Chicago native. Her name was changed to Chaka Adunne Aduffe Hodarhi Karifi at age 13 by Yoruba Baba. In 1969, Khan left the Black Panthers and dropped out of high school. She started performing in small groups throughout the Chicago area.The rest of the decade, the band continued to enjoy popularity with no less than eight platinum records. Khan's powerful voice and her colorful stage outfit made the band a popular live performer.
